The National Prosecutor's Office in Poland stated in a press release on Thursday that "the Internal Security Agency has arrested a Russian citizen accused of belonging to the Islamic State organization." The statement added, "The prosecutor... has charged the detainee with belonging to armed groups in the Syrian Arab Republic aiming to commit crimes of a terrorist nature." It noted that "the accused had previously belonged to al-Nusra Front and al-Qaeda before joining the Islamic State." The man is held in custody for three months pending trial, and if convicted, he could face a prison sentence of up to eight years.
