The Iranian General Staff published an initial report today regarding the reasons for the crash of late Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi's helicopter and his companions. The report indicated that "the president's helicopter continued its planned course and did not deviate from it," explaining that "the helicopter's pilot communicated with the two helicopters in the president's convoy." It stated, "No signs of gunfire or similar injuries were observed on the wreckage of the helicopter," noting that "the president's helicopter caught fire after crashing into the slopes."
The report mentioned that "search operations continued until 5 AM (local time) due to the ruggedness of the area, dense fog, and cold weather," indicating that "the operation concluded after the crash site was located via Iranian drones, followed by rescue teams heading to the site."
The Iranian General Staff confirmed in the report that "no suspicious points were detected in the communications and conversations between the helicopter crew and the control tower," adding that "a significant amount of documents and evidence related to the incident has been collected, but a deeper study requires more time."
