France: We Will Provide Armored Vehicles to the Lebanese Army

French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu announced in statements published today, Monday, that his country will send dozens of armored vehicles to the Lebanese Army to enable it to carry out patrol duties properly. Lecornu told the Lebanese newspaper "L'Orient-Le-Jour" after a visit to Lebanon, "It is essential to enhance the capabilities of the Lebanese national army so that it can coordinate well with the United Nations peacekeeping force amid rising tensions in southern Lebanon between Israel and Hezbollah."

He added: "We will continue our partnership through military equipment to transport troops specifically in armored protection, which is essential for continuing patrols," clarifying that dozens of armored vehicles will be delivered to the Lebanese Army soon. He further stated, "We support the Lebanese Army in the long term regardless of the current difficulties." He indicated that "Paris will also provide medicines and will establish a joint program to purchase medical supplies at reasonable prices for the Lebanese Army in the future."
