Local law enforcement authorities revealed today, Sunday, the name of the white gunman who killed three black individuals at a Dollar General store in Jacksonville, Florida, yesterday, Saturday. He is identified as Ryan Christopher Palmiter, 21 years old. Authorities described the shooting as racially motivated, noting that the young man had written "several statements" directed at media, his parents, and law enforcement that reeked of hatred towards black people.
Jacksonville Police Chief T.K. Waters stated at a press conference that "the suspect has no criminal history and he purchased the firearms used legally." He added, "There was no criminal record," explaining that the only thing recorded in the files was a phone call with his brother regarding a domestic violence incident.
Waters mentioned that "cameras captured the suspect firing first at a 52-year-old black woman who was inside her car in front of the store." He then entered the store, where he killed two black men, one aged 19 and the other 29. He clarified that "Palmiter was masked and wearing a military-style jacket." Police said he "was armed with a handgun and an AR-15 rifle adorned with swastikas, a lightweight semi-automatic weapon commonly used in mass shooting incidents."
