The authorities of the French city of Strasbourg announced on Friday the postponement of an Israeli film festival that was scheduled to take place in the city, located in eastern France, indefinitely amid the escalating war in Gaza. The city has hosted the "Shalom Europe" festival for 15 years, and the next edition was set to occur from June 16 to 20. However, Paris reported an increasing number of "anti-Semitic attacks" since the outbreak of the Gaza war on October 7. The city council did not specify the reason for the postponement, but stated that Strasbourg has "always supported the Shalom Europe festival and will continue to do so" and promised to assist in holding the festival at a suitable time for the organizers.
