Decision by the Governor of Northern Lebanon to Regulate Motorcycles

The Governor of Northern Lebanon, Judge Ramzi Nahra, issued a decision requesting the regulation of motorcycles that violate the systems and laws, particularly in the Tripoli area and its surroundings, following the resolutions of the Regional Security Council. The text of the decision states: "To the leadership of the regional gendarmerie in the North, in light of the resolutions from the meeting of the Regional Security Council that took place on 2024/4/4, and to continue the campaign to regulate motorcycles that violate the systems and laws particularly in the Tripoli area and its surroundings, which facilitate the theft of passersby and cause serious traffic accidents. Many individuals are riding motorcycles to engage in immoral behaviors by disturbing people and disrupting their peace both day and night. It is necessary to inform and task those concerned to notify motorcycle importers and sales shops not to sell any motorcycle to anyone who does not possess a legal driver's license, and to take a pledge that it must be registered with the Department of Traffic and Vehicles within a period of two months from the date of the sales contract. Failure to comply will result in the seizure of the motorcycles and the closure of the violating shops with seals, and the public prosecutor's office in the North will be informed to open an investigation record to pursue the violators and to file charges against them before the competent judiciary, with the reports of notifications to be submitted according to schedules for documentation."
