Suicide of "Sheikh Ismail" in Upper Egypt

Suicide of

A young Egyptian in his thirties took his own life early Sunday morning by hanging himself with a rope inside his family's home. According to details, the director of security in Sohag, Upper Egypt, received a notification from the officer in charge of the Asirat police station regarding the incident. Upon investigation, the body of Ismail, a Quran memorizer, was found hanging from the ceiling of a room in the house. He had performed the dawn prayer with his fellow villagers half an hour before the incident.

Before his death, the deceased published a will on his Facebook page, apologizing for his "act and asking for forgiveness and prayers." In it, he wrote: "O Lord, how I wished not to come to You with a sin, but I have come to You with the greatest sin, which is suicide. But O Lord, Your forgiveness and mercy encompass all things, so forgive me, my Lord, and have mercy on me. I hope everyone I have wronged will forgive me and donate for me, even if it's just a half date. I ask my dear students to pray for me for mercy and forgiveness, and to complete the Quran every Ramadan for those who can, as a donation for me. I hope my father forgives me, and my mother, my sisters, my grandmother, and my loved ones forgive me for what I have done. No one should be sad for me or wear black; I am certainly in a better place. Please, my mother, do not be sad or wear black."

According to "Al Arabiya.net," the news of Ismail's suicide shocked his friends, who quickly began posting words of mourning on their pages, bewildered by Sheikh Ismail's actions. His friends and villagers shared a video of Sheikh Ismail addressing the youth, advising them to fear God, not rush success, and leave endings to God. He urged them to be strong and ambitious, looking always ahead, saying, "One day you will reach the shores of success, no matter how fierce the waves of failure may be."
