Iraq: New Scandal Involving a Senior Officer

An Iraqi security source in Basra reported that an arrest warrant was issued against a senior officer in the province. The source stated that "the Basra investigative court issued an arrest warrant against an officer with the rank of brigadier general, who previously held the position of director of drug enforcement in Basra, on charges of extorting drug dealers during his time in office." The source added that "the investigation file has been submitted to the National Security Agency in Basra for follow-up and to execute the arrest warrant against the wanted officer."
