On Wednesday, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce stated that "Beijing strongly opposes the opening of a U.S. investigation targeting its maritime, logistics, and shipbuilding industries, warning that it will take all steps necessary to defend its rights and interests." The statement highlighted that "the U.S. move lacks any realistic basis and contradicts sound economic logic, as Washington blames China for its problems in the industrial sector." The ministry noted that the previous U.S. government had initiated what is known as a Section 301 investigation against China and imposed additional tariffs, and now, "due to local political needs, the United States has renewed the Section 301 investigation, repeating the same mistake."
