Iraq Recovers One of the Major Suspects from Egypt

The Federal Integrity Commission in Iraq announced today, Friday, that it has recovered one of the fugitive suspects from the Arab Republic of Egypt, explaining that the suspect committed acts of embezzlement, forgery, and extortion. The government media and communication office at the commission mentioned that "the commission received the suspect (Naeel Nasib Abdul Rahman Al-Samarrai) from the Egyptian authorities, after he was transferred to Iraq this morning; in preparation for presenting him before the judicial authorities to determine his fate in light of the criminal cases opened against him and investigated by the commission," noting "the continuous follow-up and diligent efforts made by the Recovery Department in the commission to track the suspect across four countries spanning three continents until his capture in Cairo."

The office added that "the condemned had engaged in acts of embezzlement and forgery during his tenure at the airline company and committed acts of electronic extortion, in addition to obtaining privileges and contracts surrounded by suspicions of corruption in his capacity as a commercial intermediary through his relationships with former ministers, businessmen, and officials working in the aviation sector." It is worth mentioning that "the head of the Federal Integrity Commission, Judge (Haider Hanoon), during his visit to Cairo in September of last year, handed the Egyptian Minister of Justice, Counselor (Amr Marwan), a list of names of several individuals wanted by the Iraqi judiciary who were confirmed to be present on the territory of the Arab Republic of Egypt. The Egyptian Minister of Justice confirmed that the matter would be followed up with utmost importance, and a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Federal Integrity Commission and the Egyptian Administrative Control Authority, of which this recovery operation was one of the first fruits."
