Arrest of Drug Trafficking Gang Leader in Tyre

The following statement was issued by the Directorate General of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division: As part of the specialized operations conducted by the relevant units within the Directorate General of Internal Security Forces to reduce drug trafficking and distribution activities in various regions of Lebanon and to arrest those involved, the Information Branch had, on a previous date, arrested members of a drug trafficking network in the Tyre area. This branch intensified its field and intelligence efforts to identify the mastermind of the aforementioned network.

As a result of intensive investigations and inquiries, the identity and residence of the individual were determined in the popular housing area of Tyre; he was identified as H. A. (born in 2001, Syrian), against whom multiple judicial warrants exist for drug-related crimes and theft.

On February 12, 2024, after precise monitoring and surveillance, one of the branch's patrols executed a raid on the residence of the individual in the popular housing area and arrested him. A quantity of hashish, an electronic scale, and a logbook containing records of drug sales were seized.

Simultaneously, another patrol from the branch managed to apprehend one of his clients in Tyre while he was riding a motorcycle, which was seized. He was identified as N. Z. (born in 1997, Syrian). Upon searching him, a quantity of hashish, captagon pills, and some sedative medications were found in his possession.

During the investigation, the first individual confessed to leading a drug trafficking network that distributes drugs to numerous clients. The second individual admitted to using drugs and obtaining them from the first. Legal action was taken against both, and they along with the seized items were referred to the appropriate judicial authority for further action.
