A Kuwaiti woman appeared in a controversial video while at a cosmetic clinic with her young daughter for the child to undergo a cosmetic procedure. The video, which showed the little girl after receiving lip filler injections as decided by her mother, quickly went viral on social media. Users criticized the video harshly, urging authorities to take action against the mother, with one comment stating, "Do not pass on the obsession with surgeries to your children, and what is the doctor’s position, how could he agree?"
In response, the Ministry of Health announced the formation of an inspection team to investigate the incident of performing a cosmetic procedure on a child at a clinic in the private health sector. In a statement, the ministry indicated that this action aims to ensure the safety of health service delivery in accordance with scientific and technical standards, and to respect the ethics and morals of the profession. They will also assess the compliance of what was shown in the circulated video with Law No. 70 of 2020 regarding the practice of medicine, allied professions, patient rights, and health institutions, as well as Law No. 21 of 2015 concerning child rights and the regulations concerning medical advertising in the private health sector.
