Mikati Confirms to Al-Rahi: No Deal in the Refugee File

Information from the "Al-Jadeed" channel revealed that Prime Minister Najib Mikati conducted a phone call with Maronite Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rahi, where he assured him that there was no deal regarding the refugee file and briefed him on the details of the meeting with the Commission and the Cypriot president. Mikati promised Al-Rahi a visit soon after his return to Beirut. Patriarch Al-Rahi had called during Sunday Mass for a unified stance on ensuring the return of Syrian refugees to their homeland and not to succumb to European and international pressures and enticing methods aimed at preventing their return and keeping them in Lebanon for political purposes that are neither in their interest nor in Lebanon's.
