Former president of the "Progressive Socialist Party," Walid Joumblatt, stated today, Thursday, on his official account on the platform "X": "Nuclear powers realized during the Cold War that Mutual Assured Destruction (MAD) was inevitable, so they agreed on arms treaties to limit the arms race." He added, "The 1701 resolution, if properly applied on both sides of the borders, stops further escalation and prevents MAD."
