Media reports on Saturday stated that the Israeli army has destroyed approximately 1,400 buildings and facilities in Rafah, southern Gaza Strip, since May 4th. The figure was based on data analysis using the "Copernicus Sentinel-1" satellite, which operates with radar and is managed by the European Space Agency. Since October of last year, researchers concluded that "18,176 out of 48,678 buildings in Rafah have sustained some degree of damage," according to the Israeli newspaper "Jerusalem Post." The Israeli military continues its operations in Rafah, with Tel Aviv asserting that it must fulfill its goal of eliminating the Hamas movement. To achieve this, Israel insists that it must control the city of Rafah, where approximately half of Gaza's 2.3 million residents have sought refuge from the fighting in the north.
