The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division, issued the following statement today, Tuesday: "As part of the daily monitoring by the Internal Security Forces to combat car theft operations in various Lebanese regions, and following recent incidents involving the theft of rental cars and their sale using forged documents, the International Theft Crimes Bureau identified and arrested two individuals involved in these activities and seized several stolen vehicles.
As a result of intensive investigations and inquiries, the elements of the International Theft Crimes Bureau in the Judicial Police Unit were able to identify the identities of two individuals involved in these operations. On April 24, 2024, in Jounieh, after careful monitoring, a team from this bureau arrested them while in a rented vehicle. They are:
- A. N. (born in 1988, Lebanese)
- A. H. (born in 2001, Lebanese)
During the investigation, they confessed to renting ten vehicles, forging their documents, and selling them. Upon searching their residence, numerous forged documents were found, including identities, driving licenses, and wreck certificates for vehicles, as well as plates and vehicle registration documents for the cars they rented and sold.
It was also revealed that the first arrested individual deceived his victims by claiming to belong to a certain union and presented a forged membership and identification card. A total of eight stolen vehicles were seized, and the two individuals have been referred to the relevant authorities, based on the instructions of the competent judiciary."
