Interior and Municipalities Minister Bassam Mawlawi participated in a quadripartite meeting hosted in Oman for the interior ministers of Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, and Syria to discuss joint mechanisms for addressing and combating drug trafficking. Mawlawi stated, "Our Arab security is interconnected; our borders are close and overlapping, which compels us to work diligently to protect our countries and communities from transnational crime in all its forms." He highlighted Lebanon's strategic location among Arab countries, asserting the necessity of ensuring that it does not become a source of harm or damage to its own citizens or to the sister Arab countries and the Gulf region. He affirmed, "We are committed to firmly addressing drug trafficking operations with the efforts of Lebanese security authorities," praising the role of all relevant agencies. Mawlawi emphasized the importance of continuing "joint cooperation among our countries to combat this crime."
