Russian State Duma deputy Anton Nemykin has advised everyone to delete unused applications on their smartphones to prevent hacking. Nemykin, a member of the Committee on Information Policy, Information Technology, and Communications, stated: "To protect your phone from hacking, you should remove unused applications from your smartphone and limit app access to the camera, microphone, and geolocation services."
In a statement to the Russian news agency "Novosti," he added: "I recommend everyone ensure they have antivirus software installed on their phones, keep it updated regularly, and remove unused applications while reducing app access to the camera, microphone, and geolocation."
Nemykin continued: "In reality, you can protect yourself from hacking quite simply, provided you avoid suspicious links on the internet, do not open messages from unknown users in your email and instant messaging, and also avoid downloading applications from unverified websites."
