"Horizon" - Saudi Documentary Wins International Award

The Saudi documentary film "Horizon" has won the prestigious international "Hermes" Creative Award in the platinum category for its promotional launch campaign, after facing intense competition with numerous distinguished international works. The film, produced by the “Treasures” initiative under the Saudi Ministry of Media in partnership with the National Center for Wildlife Development, showcases a diverse array of wildlife, including the dugong or "sea cow," dolphins, the agile Arabian leopard, various types of gazelles, and the Arabian oryx. It highlights more than 10,000 different species found in the Kingdom, each uniquely adapted to its environment.

Filming took over 200 days, featuring a specialized crew of 50 individuals who traveled over 4,700 kilometers to shoot in 28 locations, involving 13 Saudi researchers specializing in wildlife. The “Treasures” initiative is part of the Human Capacity Development Program within Saudi Vision 2030, aiming to visually document the treasures of the Kingdom and contribute to a significant artistic shift in production. “Treasures” has produced several documentaries, including "Equally," "Chapter 295," "Norse of Arabia," "What Saudis Eat," "Atlas of Saudi Arabia," and others.

The goal of the film "Horizon" is to raise awareness about environmental diversity in the Kingdom, showcase unique geographical areas, and highlight efforts to protect wildlife and preserve rare species, while introducing the world to its various treasures through stunning portrayals of the diverse flora and fauna. The Kingdom is keen on environmental issues as part of Vision 2030 objectives, prioritizing the preservation of wildlife and enforcing strict regulations to protect it under the supervision of the National Center for Wildlife.

It is noteworthy that the "Hermes" Award has seen over 325,000 entries from 135 countries since its inception. It is an international American award launched 27 years ago and is considered one of the oldest and largest international creative competitions, honoring the most distinguished participants from individuals and media institutions for their excellence in marketing, creativity, communication, advertising, and influence each year.
