The Egyptian government has issued a statement regarding the return to daylight saving and winter time after a 7-year suspension, which began after it was abolished in 2016. Advisor Samah Al-Khashen, the official spokesman for the Egyptian Cabinet, previously announced the return of winter time in accordance with Law No. 24 of 2023, issued by the House of Representatives. He indicated that winter time began on Friday, October 27, and will end on Friday, April 26, 2024, followed immediately by the implementation of Daylight Saving Time 2024, which involves moving the clock forward by a full 60 minutes to commence summer time.
Daylight saving time is set to be observed from April until October, during which the clock will be advanced by 60 minutes, resulting in a total application period of 6 full months. The government aims to implement daylight saving time to conserve various energy sources such as electricity, gasoline, diesel, gas, and petroleum products.
