Minister of Education and Higher Education Abbas Halabi followed up on the news of the burning of a car belonging to one of the educational inspectors in Tripoli. Upon receiving the news from London, where he is participating in the global conference of education ministers, he contacted the General Educational Inspector Dr. Faten Jomaa to learn about the circumstances and backgrounds surrounding this ongoing crime. He condemned the actions of a group of criminals attacking an inspector in this regulatory body, which, despite its limited numbers and resources, oversees the quality of the educational process, the regular functioning of educational institutions, the monitoring of official examinations, and participation in all efforts to raise the standard of the educational sector and its institutions.
Minister Halabi called on security and judicial authorities to act swiftly to uncover those responsible and involved in the crime, bring them to justice, and impose the harshest penalties stipulated by law against them. He also urged the judiciary to hold the perpetrators fully financially accountable to serve as a deterrent to others. Halabi considered that regulatory bodies are the last fortress of the state's dignity and the regular functioning of institutions, and thus, it is imperative to protect these bodies, foremost among them educational inspection, which is a key partner in the development of education, curricula, and the professional growth of teachers to fulfill their educational mission.
