The head of the "Free Patriotic Movement," Deputy Gibran Basil, stated in "A Minute with Gibran" that "while the Syrian displacement poses an existential danger, it does not mean that all displaced individuals are criminals." He pointed out that "those who are lamenting this issue today are the ones who led us to this situation through their silence, or rather, through their acceptance and complicity."
He clarified that "the Free Patriotic Movement has proposed a series of practical projects and that what is required is not aggression." He listed a series of necessary measures:
- Expulsion of Syrian refugees from Lebanese prisons.
- Deportation of any Syrian who enters the borders through illegal crossings or with a displacement card.
- Deportation of any Syrian worker who violates labor laws by decision of the Minister of Labor.
- Revocation of the refugee status and cessation of assistance to any Syrian who does not meet the displacement criteria.
- Expulsion of any Syrian who violates the laws from municipal jurisdiction.
Basil affirmed that "the time for political exploitation and profiting from the blood of Lebanese people has ended; now is the time for action and seriousness."
