Theft at a School: Information Leads to Arrests

On March 3, 2024, unknown masked individuals broke into a school in the Brumana area through force. They pried open two safes and stole their contents, with the stolen items valued at approximately $56,000, around €7,000, and a sum in Lebanese currency estimated at about 8 billion. They also restrained the school’s security guards and fled to an unknown location. Following this, the relevant units of the Internal Security Forces began procedures to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.

As a result of investigations by the Information Division, the identities of those involved in the theft were uncovered, including the following Lebanese individuals: K. H. (born 1999) (school security guard and mastermind), J. A. (born 1996) (school security guard), J. H. (born 2000) (school security guard), A. H. (born 1995), K. S. (born 1997), and A. H. (born 2005).

On March 7 and 9, 2024, after precise monitoring and surveillance, units from the division managed to arrest them in the areas of Al-Samakia, Al-Aridah, and Al-Abda, and the stolen amounts were seized as follows: 798,750,500 Lebanese Lira buried in the ground in the outskirts of Al-Samakia, and $46,991, €7,265, found after searching the homes of the arrested individuals.

During the investigation, they confessed to participating in the mentioned theft, stating that they used a rented four-wheel-drive vehicle, specifically a "Range Rover," for the operation and the money transfer. They had hidden the money in preparation for later distribution. The seized funds were handed over to the school administration, and legal actions were initiated against the arrested individuals, who were referred to the relevant legal authority based on judicial directives.
