Mikati Follows Up on Gunfire at the US Embassy

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati followed up on the gunfire at the US Embassy in Aoukar during his meeting with National Defense Minister Maurice Slim this Wednesday morning. He also conducted a series of calls with Army Commander General Joseph Aoun and leaders of the security agencies. The Prime Minister was informed by the relevant parties that the situation is stable and that intensive investigations have begun to clarify the circumstances of the incident and to detain all the involved parties. Mikati also contacted those responsible at the embassy to check on the situation and the staff at the embassy, given that Ambassador Lisa Johnson is outside Lebanon.
