The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates stated that Israel "has begun the destruction of the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip without waiting for permission from anyone, and has not announced this to avoid international reactions." The ministry condemned in the strongest terms the "barbaric and bloody shelling carried out by the occupation forces against our people, which has escalated wildly since yesterday, focusing this morning on targeting homes above the heads of their residents in Rafah, resulting in dozens of martyrs, wounded, and missing under the rubble." The ministry considered the escalation of this bloody shelling in Rafah as a serious beginning to expand the crimes of the occupation in the area, despite the presence of more than one million displaced people in the region, with no regard for their lives and in official Israeli disregard for their safety.
