The city of Riyadh will witness the official opening ceremony of the Arab Road Cycling Championship "Riyadh 2023" tomorrow, Saturday. The championship will officially commence the day after tomorrow and will continue until December 23, organized by the Saudi Cycling Federation under the supervision of the International and Arab Cycling Federations.
The ceremony will showcase the participating teams, which include 300 male and female athletes representing 10 countries, along with the stages of the competitions that will take place over 7 days. These will include team time trials, individual time trials, and the individual road race, covering a total distance of 730 kilometers.
The event will also announce the "Arab Bicycle City" award in its first edition, which will be given to the best Arab city that has contributed to the development of bicycle sports infrastructure and has played a significant role in supporting, developing, and increasing the number of practitioners of this sport from various community segments.
It is worth noting that the Arab Cycling Federation approved the establishment of the "Arab Bicycle City" award committee last May, headed by the President of the Saudi Cycling Federation, Abdullah Al-Wuthlan, who affirmed that the award will enhance competition among Arab cities to create various bicycle paths and tracks and provide the means for practicing the sport.
