South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, a Republican, called for the killing of President Joe Biden's dog, which has been involved in several incidents, stating it "bit and drew blood from several members of the Secret Service at the White House." Noem remarked, "The dog that was exiled from the White House last fall deserved to be killed."
This statement came in response to the backlash she faced for euthanizing her family's 14-month-old dog, a decision she defended, believing it was necessary for a dog that posed a threat to others. Noem stated, "Joe Biden's dog attacked 24 members of the Secret Service. How many people must be attacked and seriously harmed before you make a decision about a dog?" Biden's dog, "Commander," was sent to an undisclosed location after the Secret Service documented 24 biting incidents involving him between October 2022 and July 2023, nearly half of which required medical attention.
