U.S. Ambassador to Israel Jack Liu stated on Tuesday that "establishing official Israeli-Saudi relations within the framework of a trilateral agreement being prepared with Washington's involvement will require calming the war in Gaza and discussing the future of the Palestinian governance system." He said at a conference hosted by the Israeli Democracy Institute: "I believe there will be a period of calm in Gaza, and there must be dialogue on how to address the issue of the future of Palestinian governance." The ambassador added: "In my view, this strategic benefit is worth the risk of engaging in that discussion. But this is a decision that the government and people of Israel must make."
