A circulating video on social media showed the occurrence of what is known as a "roll cloud" in the sky over the Central Governorate of Oman today, Tuesday. The "roll cloud" appeared as a long horizontal swirl, which elicited amazement and curiosity due to its unusual and strange shape in the region. The roll cloud is a relatively rare type of low, horizontal, tubular cloud that resembles a tube. Rolling clouds typically look as if they are "rolling" around a horizontal axis, representing a solitary wave known as a soliton, characterized by maintaining speed and shape as it moves. This rolling effect is due to differences in wind speed and direction with altitude. A stunning scene of the roll cloud that appeared in the sky over the Mukhayzinah area in the Wilayat of Haima this morning has been noted—"Glory be to God Almighty."
