The Commander of the Lebanese Army, Joseph Aoun, inaugurated the roads of Burj al-Dababiyeh, Sayyidet al-Qala, Khirbat al-Rumman, Burj Shadra, Hnaydar, and Kfar Noun at the northern border, which connect the border military centers of the First Land Border Regiment together and facilitate citizens' access to their lands. He inspected the mentioned centers, met with its military personnel, and learned about their missions aimed at monitoring and securing the borders and preventing smuggling. He addressed them, saying: "Your role is essential in this region; a state that does not secure its borders becomes vulnerable to all types of violations."
Aoun visited the headquarters of the regiment in Shadra, where the joint forces for border control are stationed, and met with officers and soldiers, touring the regiment's sections and its operations room, receiving a briefing on its missions and the difficulties it faces. He said, addressing the soldiers: "The army acts according to what the oath and duty dictate solely, without partisan, religious, or sectarian considerations, and implements the decisions of the political authority in accordance with international standards that uphold human rights, and we respect these to the fullest extent, preserving the supreme national interest, which remains an absolute priority for us. Human rights exist to preserve dignity, not to destroy rights and homeland, and no one can outbid us on this issue. Lebanon can no longer bear the burden, and every Lebanese, across the entire nation, is responsible, given the imminent danger our country faces."
The army commander confirmed that the leadership is aware of the crushing economic situation that the military personnel are enduring, having experienced extreme difficulties over the past three years, and that it is doing everything possible to provide them with necessary requirements, especially healthcare and transportation. He urged them to be patient, explaining that security cannot be compromised as it is essential for the nation's survival and economic revival. If the homeland is lost, it is forever lost, affirming that the most difficult phase has been overcome.
