Minister of Industry in the caretaker government, George Bouchikian, announced that "Lebanon has been known for gold manufacturing for decades, and that the owners of this sector strive to produce exquisite jewelry pieces in design, art, and beauty, which are sought after for display at major international exhibitions, or recommended by princesses and Hollywood representatives." He emphasized that "this industry is renowned, with a reputation that is globally recognized, and no one will be able, nor will we allow anyone, to distort its image, purity, or captivating luster." During his meeting with the President of the Gold and Jewelry Traders Syndicate, Eli Hakim, and members of the Syndicate's Board of Directors, he congratulated "those working in this field, specialists in this industry, who possess extensive experience and exceptional skills." He affirmed that "the ministry and he personally will work to facilitate the affairs of the syndicate and manufacturers, in terms of protecting the sector domestically, as well as assisting it in exporting and participating in international exhibitions."
