The Health Directorate in Gharbia Governorate, Egypt, has decided to close a private clinic belonging to an obstetrician after he was accused of throwing a newborn baby among piles of garbage in the Behlawan area of Mahalla al-Kubra. The security authorities of the Gharbia Security Directorate received a notification from the emergency police about citizens finding a baby inside a plastic bag among heaps of garbage in the Behlawan area, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Third Police Station in Mahalla al-Kubra.
According to Egyptian media, investigations into the incident have begun. Preliminary investigations revealed the discovery of a newborn baby, only a few days old, wrapped inside a garbage bag and still alive. After reviewing the surveillance cameras, the baby’s mother was apprehended, who stated that she did not know whether her child was alive or not.
Investigative authorities have informed the Health Directorate of the incident and the doctor who delivered the baby, leading to the closure of his clinic by the private treatment administration. The newborn has been placed in a social care facility for proper care, and investigations into the case are ongoing. The mother has been released, and the accused doctor is being sought to continue the investigations with him.
