Islamic Military Alliance Discusses Counterterrorism

The Islamic Military Alliance to Fight Terrorism held its second meeting of chiefs of staff from member and supporting countries today, Wednesday, in Riyadh, chaired by the Chief of Staff of the Saudi Armed Forces, General Fayad bin Hamid Al-Ruwaili. During the meeting, the Islamic Alliance’s strategy, its major achievements, and ongoing initiatives related to its operational fields (intellectual, media, combating terrorism financing, and military) were presented. The participants discussed the objectives of the initiatives and their role in serving member countries in combating terrorism and rejecting violence and extremism. The Chief of Staff of the Saudi Armed Forces emphasized that this meeting is part of the preparation for the upcoming meeting of defense ministers of the Islamic alliance, scheduled for February 2024, chaired by the Saudi Minister of Defense, Prince Khalid bin Salman. For his part, the Secretary-General of the Islamic Military Alliance to Fight Terrorism, Major General Pilot Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Mugeidi, clarified that the initiatives presented by member countries are a result of the needs identified by the Islamic alliance. These initiatives have been studied and analyzed according to the governance of the alliance and international laws to achieve the desired goals. Major General Al-Mugeidi added that the total support requests from member countries submitted by their representatives in the alliance exceeded 60 initiatives, all aimed at various areas of combating terrorism. The Islamic Alliance is studying and framing them according to international laws to begin implementation after their approval by the Council of Defense Ministers of the Islamic Military Alliance.
