Lebanon's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Abdullah Bohabib, expressed his "appreciation for the stance of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, during their meeting at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva." He affirmed "the commitment to enhancing the presence of the regional office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Beirut." He stated, "The 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights means a lot to Lebanon, especially since we contributed to its drafting through the prominent Charles Malik, the committee's rapporteur at the time," emphasizing "Lebanon's steadfast adherence to international humanitarian law as a legitimate protection against Israeli ambitions."
