Mikati Discusses Displaced Persons Return and Meets with Various Figures

The caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati met with the Minister of Displaced Persons, Issam Sharaf El-Din, this morning at the Grand Serail. The discussion focused on the return of Syrian displaced persons and the mission carried out by Minister Sharaf El-Din in this context following a Cabinet decision.

The conversation also touched on the recent wave of displacement occurring through illegal crossings and ways to control the borders, with discussions to continue in a larger meeting scheduled for tomorrow.

Additionally, President Mikati received Claude Karam, the head of the National Anti-Corruption Commission, who clarified after the meeting that he presented a copy of the Commission's first annual report, along with an overview of all matters related to the Commission's work and future plans. He expressed gratitude for the support received.

The Prime Minister also met with a delegation from the "National Council of Retired State Employees," including Antoine Gibran, Salim Maksour, and Nazih Raad, to discuss the council's requests. Mikati received MP Ahmad Al-Khair and former MP Hadi Habesh as well.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister met with the Ambassador of Cyprus to Lebanon, Panayiotis Kyriakou, during a farewell visit marking the end of his mission in Lebanon. Among the visitors to the Grand Serail was Rami Mortada, Lebanon's Ambassador to the United Kingdom.
