Informed political sources told "Al-Liwaa" that the ongoing communications for a diplomatic resolution to the developments along the southern front are not progressing and are waiting to see the outcome of the Gaza truce. They noted that the recent Israeli aggression on some areas, particularly Habbariyeh, may not go unanswered by Hezbollah, highlighting that enemy threats regarding the southern front are increasing.
Additionally, these sources indicated that several local files are expected to either be resolved or postponed, with the municipal elections being the most prominent issue. The government is avoiding any discussion about delays or even entering into dialogue on the matter, announcing that there will be no government session before the holidays.
The same sources clarified that there are no new movements in the presidential file, and the country has entered the Easter holiday for Christian sects that follow the Western calendar. In terms of political developments, a vacuum has completely engulfed the atmosphere, with no interest in any matters during the holiday season, starting from the middle of the first week of April. According to informed sources, there is nothing on the horizon, and stagnation is the prevailing situation.
On the Christian level, some sources talked about the efforts of the leader of the Free Patriotic Movement, Representative Gebran Bassil, to "win over" the leader of the Lebanese Forces party through reaching an understanding similar to the one that led to the election of General Michel Aoun as president more than seven years ago. According to the sources, this prospective understanding aims to prevent former MP Sleiman Frangieh and Army Commander General Joseph Aoun from reaching the presidency, according to "Al-Liwaa."
