Nineteen international humanitarian organizations have warned of an "imminent famine" in Sudan if the conflicting parties continue to prevent humanitarian agencies from delivering assistance to those in need. This was stated in a joint statement signed by the heads of 19 global humanitarian organizations, 12 of which are UN agencies, according to the United Nations News website. In the statement, the international organizations warned that "increased obstacles to delivering aid swiftly and on a large scale mean that more people will die." The humanitarian agencies called on the warring parties to "protect civilians, facilitate humanitarian access, and adopt a nationwide ceasefire."
