Title: Borrell: Signatories of the International Criminal Court Statute Are Obliged to Its Decisions

European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell stated that the International Criminal Court (ICC) is an independent international institution, adding that countries that have ratified its statute are obliged to implement its decisions. Borrell's remarks were in response to the prosecutor's request for the court to issue arrest warrants against the Israeli Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, according to "Wafa". Earlier, ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan announced in a statement that they are seeking "to issue arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant for allegedly committing war crimes." The alleged Israeli crimes included "starvation of civilians as a method of warfare, causing intentionally severe suffering or serious injury to body or health, premeditated murder, and intentionally directing attacks against civilian populations as a war crime, as well as extermination and/or murder," according to the same statement.
