Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has once again urged NATO on Monday to make a "positive political decision" regarding Kyiv's request for membership during a summit to be held in July.
Zelensky, in a video address to the Copenhagen Democracy Summit, stated that "it is time to end the largest security ambiguity in Europe by approving a positive political decision on Ukraine's accession to NATO," adding, "this deserves to be executed at the July summit. It will be a timely signal."
Zelensky is touring European capitals to rally support ahead of an expected Ukrainian counteroffensive to attempt to reclaim territories occupied by Russia.
Western partners have provided Ukraine with weapons to counter the Russian invasion, but Kyiv seeks stronger security guarantees for the future and hopes to join NATO, which will hold its next summit in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, in July.
