Abul Gheit: Do Not Underestimate the Israeli Minister's Statement on

The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Abul Gheit, called for not underestimating the statement made by the Israeli Minister of Heritage, who considered that "dropping a nuclear bomb on Gaza is one of the possibilities." Abul Gheit stated, "This fascist language coming from a member of the Israeli government, as much as it may seem insane, reveals the level of extremism and intolerance that permeates the power structures in Israel. In light of a government that adopts such ideological delusions and inherent hatred, it is not surprising that we witness horrific massacres committed daily against innocent civilians in Gaza."

He emphasized that "the matter is not limited to the Israeli minister's acknowledgment of his country's possession of nuclear weapons, which is a blatant violation of international law, but these statements also reveal the racist perspective and dangerous intentions of some Israeli officials who advocate for the use of weapons of mass destruction against Palestinians as a strategic option and incite further war crimes."

Abul Gheit urged, along with member states of the United Nations and international agencies, "the necessity for the international community to bear its responsibility towards swiftly halting the Israeli aggression on Gaza and the West Bank, and to hold Israel accountable for all violations and crimes it has committed," warning that "allowing this unjust war to continue for even one more day will sow the seeds of hatred and extremism in the region for years to come."
