Title: "Fireworks" Cost Montpellier Fans One Million Euros

Title:

Lawyers for the French club Montpellier have demanded that two fans pay over one million euros for damages caused by a match against Clermont Foot being played behind closed doors. The incident dates back to October 8, when Montpellier was leading Clermont Foot (4 - 2) before fireworks were thrown at Clermont's goalkeeper, Mori Diaw, who was carried off the field on a stretcher. Because of this incident, both teams had to play again behind closed doors at the end of November, which ended in a 1 - 1 draw, while the French league deducted one point from Montpellier due to the events. Montpellier's club, through its lawyers, calculated the cost of damages caused by the fireworks to be 515,000 euros, which includes losses incurred behind closed doors, partial stand suspension for two matches, and television broadcasting rights. The club is requesting that the two fans accused of throwing the fireworks pay the amount, with the court's ruling in the case set to be issued on May 16.
