Channel 13 in Israel has reported the deaths of 3 Israeli soldiers and injuries to 14 others, with 5 in critical condition, following the explosion of a besieged building in Khan Younis yesterday afternoon. The channel specified that the deceased soldiers are Sergeant Doliv Malka (19 years old), Sergeant Abik Tiri (19 years old), and Sergeant Yanun Yitzhak (20 years old), and it mentioned that an investigation has been initiated into this ambush.
Furthermore, it added that the fallen soldiers were part of Battalion 450, which recently replaced the Paratroopers Brigade that had left Gaza. Initial investigations revealed that one unit entered the building on foot while another unit provided security. At one point, the building was detonated using a series of explosives that were activated one after the other, causing parts of it to collapse.
Investigations clarified that the incident occurred in an area that the Israeli army considers safe, leading the military to explore whether the Palestinian factions had recently placed these explosives or if they were detonated remotely. This week also saw the explosion of a besieged building in Gaza City, resulting in the deaths of two Israeli soldiers and injuries to seven others, raising the Israeli military's fears of a spread in such operations and prompting efforts to prevent their recurrence.
The incident occurred in Gaza City during a raid by fighters from the Givati Brigade on the Zeitoun neighborhood, and as a result of an explosive device detonating in the building where Israeli forces were present, Major Yiftach Shahar, the company commander of the Sabra Battalion, and Captain Itai Seif, a squad commander in the same battalion, were killed.
