Bassil After Meeting with Al-Rahi: We Are Ready to Do Anything to Defend Our Existence

After congratulating Maronite Patriarch Bechara Al-Rahi on Easter with a delegation from the "Free Patriotic Movement", the head of the movement, MP Gebran Bassil, affirmed that "our existence and role are tied to resurrection." He stated, "We came to this great edifice on this significant day to experience resurrection in its religious symbolism and its national meaning, because when we believe that Christ has risen, we must also believe that Lebanon will rise."

He expressed his readiness to do everything to defend "our existence, as well as to forgive and overlook grievances and injustices we have suffered." He added, "We are not only responding to the call of Bkerke, but we also urge and strive to unify our stance, as nothing is more precious than our existence and role, which is the least we can do in light of an existential crisis."

Bassil referred to the "Bkerke appeal in 2000 during a critical phase," pointing out that "in the current existential crisis, the least we can do is to issue a national document from Bkerke as a starting point, which must be followed by efforts to implement it through actions to cement our existence and our message." He clarified that this is an open and ongoing invitation, regardless of the challenges faced.

He concluded by emphasizing that "our stance will triumph" and that "the truth will ultimately emerge, and Lebanon's truth and message will endure."
