Attempts to Gain Advantages Not Yet Time... What Mikati Revealed About Government Formation

Prime Minister Najib Mikati confirmed his commitment to all efforts aimed at forming a new government, emphasizing the need for cooperation from all parties involved in these efforts, and the importance of refraining from setting conditions and obstacles in a clear attempt to achieve political gains that are neither timely nor acceptable. He stated, "Let us all cooperate to resolve the governmental file in a way that helps establish more political stability and avoid futile disputes that are of no benefit, especially since the constitution is clear on all matters, and there is no room for interpretation in the context of the text."

The Prime Minister's stance came during his sponsorship at the Grand Serail of the "National Youth Policy Action Plan 2022-2024," aimed at developing the capabilities of young men and women in Lebanon and empowering them, organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in partnership with UNICEF and the United Nations Population Fund.

Mikati said, "Our government continues to work diligently and tirelessly to address as many urgent and chronic problems as possible, alongside the essential steps of a comprehensive recovery plan we initiated with the International Monetary Fund. The sessions on the general budget set to begin tomorrow in the Parliament represent a fundamental pillar of revival and resolution. We hope that discussions will unfold in a spirit of positive cooperation among all, far from negative criticism or raised claims, as we do not have the luxury of time or debate amid this huge volume of problems."

He added, "The main challenge facing us is to stop the bleeding of emigration that exhausts our youth and restore confidence first in the nation and its capabilities, and then address the factors of collapse that have significantly halted the economic cycle in the country."

He stated, "No to despair and sorrow. No to encouraging emigration or discouraging our youth and urging them to leave. Yes to staying in Lebanon no matter the challenges. With God's permission, let us work together to overcome difficulties and put the nation back on the path to economic and financial recovery."
