The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jasem Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, emphasized the important role of the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation as dynamic forces to address the multiple crises facing the region and the world. During his participation in the 15th Islamic Summit Conference hosted in the Gambian capital, Banjul, Al-Budaiwi highlighted the necessity of collective action to tackle challenges and enhance values of peace and prosperity, specifically referencing the current situation in the Gaza Strip.
He pointed out the significant challenges threatening security and stability, particularly amid escalating crises in the Middle East resulting from the situation in Palestine and Gaza, which necessitates a renewed commitment to collective and responsible action to support the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights. He reaffirmed the important role that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation should play in supporting peace and development efforts, as well as in combating extremism and terrorism that threaten regional and international security, emphasizing the significance of the call made by the ministerial council of the Gulf Cooperation Council during its 44th extraordinary session for an international conference to enhance regional and international stability and security.
