The "Judges' Club of Lebanon" announced that "contrary to the Lebanese Constitution, which guarantees the freedom of assembly and expression, and the international agreements that govern the organization of judges' associations worldwide and guarantee their freedom of operation, the proposed law on the independence of the judiciary, currently on the agenda of the General Assembly of the Parliament, includes a legal article—namely Article /91/—that could be used as an excuse to eliminate the Judges' Club by restricting its work, limiting its role, and transforming it into an ineffective association." The statement continued: "Thus, it becomes clear that the war on the club's existence and role, which began since its inception, is still ongoing on all fronts. Therefore, we call on the honorable members of Parliament to abolish Article /91/ of the proposed law in addition to the other amendments we proposed earlier."
