The Egyptian government, through coordination between several ministries, has decided to halt the electrical load reduction plan for churches during the Christian celebrations of "Easter". The official spokesperson for the Egyptian Prime Minister's office, Counselor Mohamed Al-Hosmani, stated that "coordination was made between Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the Prime Minister, and the Ministers of Electricity and Renewable Energy, and Petroleum and Mineral Resources to stop the implementation of the electrical load reduction plan for churches during the days of the Coptic Orthodox Christmas celebrations and Holy Week, facilitating their celebrations during this time."
In this context, the Prime Minister extended congratulations "to our Coptic brothers inside and outside Egypt on the occasion of these celebrations," wishing for "continued progress for our beloved Egypt in various fields." Easter is one of the most important Christian holidays, and the Coptic Orthodox Church will celebrate Easter Sunday on May 5, 2024, following the Great Lent.
