The Turkish official newspaper published a new presidential decision today, Saturday, imposing an additional 40% tariff on car imports from China. The minimum additional tariff has been set at $7,000 per vehicle, and the decision will take effect from July 7th. According to the decision, the minimum customs duty will apply even if the 40% tariff on the imported car's price results in an amount less than $7,000. Turkey had imposed additional tariffs on electric car imports from China in 2023 and introduced some regulations related to the maintenance and services of electric vehicles.
