The "National Moderation" bloc received the ambassadors of the Quintet today at its office in Al-Sayfi. The bloc clarified, in a statement from the media office of MP Walid Ba’rene, after the meeting, that it "is working in coordination with the Quintet to unify viewpoints in order to overcome obstacles for the success of the moderation initiative adopted by the Quintet, which most parliamentary blocs have agreed upon. Today, we have more clarity on how to unify efforts and restrict discrepancies regarding the party that will invite for consultation and chair the consultative session."
The bloc affirmed "agreement with committee members on a joint work mechanism within a specified timeframe and clear points to overcome obstacles if good intentions are evident among the parliamentary components." It announced that "at the end of this movement, and based on its results, we will have a declared and clear position regarding the outcomes of the movement and the work of the bloc in order to establish responsibilities by addressing the Lebanese people and clarifying the degree of responsiveness of each team."
It called upon "colleagues in the parliamentary blocs to benefit from the efforts made by the bloc and the Quintet and to expedite cooperation and responsiveness in the interest of the country, as this is the almost last opportunity at present to emerge from the presidential impasse and to overcome provocations and gains at the expense of the Lebanese people’s dignity and interests."
