The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued the following statement today, Saturday: "Information was received by the Internal Security Forces Information Division regarding an unidentified individual committing fraud targeting many citizens. This person would call victims impersonating an officer in the security forces, misleading them into believing they had violation reports against them, consequently requesting payment through money transfer companies.
Immediately, the concerned units of the division initiated field and inquiry measures to identify and apprehend the suspect. As a result of investigations, the division managed to identify him as A. B. (born in 1974, Lebanese), who has prior convictions for fraud and deception.
On May 14, 2024, after careful surveillance, one of the division's patrols arrested him in Ketermaya, in a green Kia Picanto vehicle, which was also seized. During the investigation, he confessed to committing more than 20 fraudulent activities in the aforementioned manner, affecting several citizens in various regions. The Kia Picanto was returned to its owner, and legal measures were taken against the arrested individual, who was referred to the competent authority, in accordance with the judicial procedures." The Information Division has put an end to his fraudulent activities targeting numerous citizens while masquerading as a security official. #Internal_Security #Safety_is_a_Trust— Internal Security Forces (@LebISF) May 25, 2024
